Frequently Asked Questions About NourishEd
1. How does the course work?
Click the ‘Get Started’ button to purchase the programme, and you'll be enrolled within 24 hours. At the end of each module there is a short test to check your understanding. There is NO coursework required.
2. How do we become a NourishEd school?
Once your colleague completes the course, they will receive a digital certificate and the School Nutrition Specialist Certified logo. Your school will also receive the NourishED Kitemark, allowing you to refer to your school as a NourishED institution.
3. How many colleagues can enrol?
There is no minimum or maximum number of participants, however most schools will enrol one or two colleagues to become a School Nutrition Specialist.
4. Can we pay via BACS or Cheque?
Yep, enter the code BACS payment, which will reduce your basket to £0 - we'll then raise an invoice. If you wanted to use an additional coupon enter that in NOTES so we can add that to your invoice.
5. How long does the course take?
Based on feedback from our pilot with 20 senior leaders, teachers, and support staff, the course takes approx. 10 hours to complete, but you have a full year to complete the course
6. Is there a time limit to complete the course?
Participants have 12 months from enrolment to complete the course and access additional resources.
Certification renewal is available from July 2025.

8. Can we use our sports premium to purchase the programme?
Yes, you can allocate a portion of your Sports Premium or CPD budgets to this programme.
9. Who are the AfN?
The Association for Nutrition (AfN) sets and advances standards for evidence-based nutrition practice. AfN Course Certification ensures that courses meet high standards of nutritional science education.
10. Who is this course suitable for?
The course is suitable for any school staff with an interest in food, nutrition, health, or wellbeing.
School staff who have completed the course include: Senior Leaders, School Caterers, Teachers, Subject Leaders, Food Subject Teachers, Support Staff and Cooks.
